2016 MN Regs are out

Unread postby MN_DeerHunter » Wed Aug 03, 2016 5:38 am

Some zones have changed this year so make sure to take a look. My zone changed from hunters choice to managed so I can take a doe and buck this year.

I plan on driving to a doe zone this fall for a blind hunt or two. Lot of work for a doe but it's been 10 years or so since I've had a MN doe tag in my pocket.

I feel bad for the guys in western MN. It's just a giant lottery zone. How far do you have to drive to get into a managed zone?

Sorry. I didn't mean you but people in general. Around here they gave out unlimited tags and some guys thought they had to fill every single one.

We hunt 341. For years it was 1 deer per year. All those years we saw a ton of deer. Makes me scratch my head....

Haven't read the MN regs myself but read somewhere else that MN does not allow out of state carcasses to be brought in to the state this year. All deer have to be processed and packaged before they can be brought in. I assume this is an attempt to help prevent the spread of CWD. Not sure if this is true but something to look into for any MN hunters planning out of state hunts this year.

We are required to remove head and spine and all bones. There are laws that also state it is illegal to remove the head from your animal during transport in MN.

So which is it?

How does that work if you bring your buck to the taxidermist to have him cape it out ?? Then have to transport the body home

I think you'd have to find a taxidermist in the state you shot it wouldn't you?
