I myself never have seen one in the wild but they are in my area in western WI. Many trail camera pictures of them in the last few years. I can't remember when it happened, I think 5 or 6 years ago an area landowner found a ripped up deer carcass 30 feet up a tree. Kinda a weird spot to find a dead deer in these parts. I guess the DNR came out to look at it and concluded it was the work of a mountain lion.

I'm honestly cool not ever seeing one. Seems like they are making a comeback in many areas. Without a doubt, a pair of Yellow eyes glaring back in a headlamp is always unnerving. Bobcats and coyotes are not a threat to humans. Cougars can be lethal, but attacks on humans are rare. I think my chances are better from getting struck by lightning or what bothers me the most, falling tree limbs. Mountain lions are protected here and they are not to be killed unless you are being attacked. The twra has confirmed 5 sightings over the last few years in west tn.

There's always rumors of cougars & black panthers here in GA as well.. They have massive home ranges and are extremely territorial so there's no doubt one could pass through and not be seen again for some time. But considering how efficient they are at taking down game I wouldn't mind them staying up North with y'all!

I was in full leaf suit gear and I'm pretty sure my movement scared the crap out of him as much as he did me, because he fell over backwards to get away from me. I did the same to get away from him. My great uncle had said several times over the past few years that he had seen a long tail down in that portion of his property, and no one had believed him. I wasn't believed either until my father found his tracks later that day.

This was from 3yrs ago in the swamp I was hunting in North Central Florida. This was a male and I never saw him in person although others did. There were a lot of pics of him. The next year I saw a momma with 2 cubs cross a road on me. 100% panthers. My biologist brother in law informed me I saw bobcats. I explained to him the 6ft tail and asked to see evidence of a bobcat with a 6ft tail. I was told I didn't know what I saw and that there are no panthers north of hwy 70 in Florida......right.

I was in Idaho in 2012 on a fire in the Boise Natl. Forest and I was coming back at night from my shift and had one walk out on the road in front of my vehicle. It stood there for about 10-15 sec. enough time for my eyes to bug out of my head. It was cool until I realized I was sleeping on the ground under the stars a half mi. up river from where I saw him  Incredible animal.

Warhog23, of all the wackjob reports from people who claim they saw a cougar in PA there has only been one legitimate sighting about 40 years ago and that was one that escaped from a cage a short distance away. If we have a breeding population in PA they are magical, they leave no tracks and there has never been any evidence of a kill. The PGC physically investigates reports of cougar sightings and so far no evidence has been found. They do however have a pretty big collection of videos and pictures of house cats and dogs. :D In addition any time anyone tells you they saw a black cougar you know they are full of crap or full of bourbon because black cougars do not now nor have they ever existed. There are black Jaguars and black Leopards but has never been any evidence of melonism in cougars.

This one was almost certainly in Western PA at some point or another. I am sure he wasn't the first and won't be the last:

According to our DEEP there are no cougars in Connecticut. They only visit on walkabout from South Dakota.

Usually when she attacks, she uses a vehicle...

Okay, so that's a really old reference.
