Milkweed?$$$

Unread postby VA5326 » Sat Jul 30, 2016 2:12 am

If any of you have a surplus, I'd be willing to pay top dollar for Milkweed. Please let me know and I can arrange payment before you send it because that's how I roll.

If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

There is enough milkweed in my area that I could contribute as well to anyone in need. Also thistle is blowing like summer snow here right now. If anyone prefers that I would be willing to get that to.

I use cotton balls. It you will tear very small pieces off and mess around with it you will see it do the same thing as milkweed. I have used both and yes I do like the milkweed better but when running low cotton works just fine

U guys that don't have any in your area, when you get some, should strip the seeds off the fluff, and plant some. It might take off in the spring. :). Another month or so and I can resupply.

This is a great idea with fresh stuff. The seeds need to "stratify", which means they need a cold period before they germinate. That makes early season the perfect time to put the seed out. I had an area I hunt with absolutely no milkweed around and after using milkweed late season last year, there were several plants within a couple hundred yards of one of my setups...

where I am, Central/North East Wisconsin, its everywhere, along the roads, clear cut areas, ect....

Went up to Door County this past weekend to listen to some music at one of the local winery. Enjoyed a nice bottle of red wine with the wife and kids had fun running around, and here were some baby milk weeds, the pods are only 1/2" or so long.
