Unless I'm overlooking them I can't find any here in bama. Should they have the pods on them by now?

Here in WI I pick mine late August-early September. Sometimes I find some later that did not open yet.

Same time frame here in MI. I usually grab them when pulling camera cards or when out walking the dog.

Cool thanks for the info guys! I would assume its roughly the same time frame here in the north east

You can speed up the process with the defrost blower on high. ;)

Would that be the drying process or the divorce proceedings that would speed up?

I usually dry them on the bench in the garage. Once they pop and dry out, i open the pod and grab as much of the white fuzzies with the fingers. Then with the other hand i knock the seeds off into the garbage and stuff the fuzzies into a film canister. More durable than carrying the whole pod.

I'm in north Texas, but we are similar growing zones, and most of ours popped and finished a few weeks ago.

Go where none other dare to go, and there you'll find success.

I'll put them on the dash of my car while at work. Rotate them a few times and they normally are fine. I have come out though and had to drive away with the windows open and leave a trail of white. LOL. A paper bag on the dash of your car would probably do a great job.
