peanut butter attractant ?

Unread postby deerhunterdon » Wed Jun 01, 2016 10:31 am

I got this crazy idea . One year I heard someone took a plastic tub of peanut butter and screwed the lid to a tree and put the tub back on and cut the bottom out so a deer could access it, so I tried it with two big tubs. I checked after a week and nothing . I went back two weeks later and wow , tracks everywhere and both tubs empty. that was years ago. now what if......what if a guy started putting out tubs all year long on a regular basis , in a different spot everytime , just 100 yards difference . until bow season.......now you take a jar out with you ........lol.

It would still be considered baiting in my state if you tried it during hunting season. I think I tried that trick years ago to get Intel on what deer were in an area. I only had pics of raccoons.

I love peanut butter on pancakes and waffles. Matter of fact, It's awesome for breakfast lunch and dinner. It's my go to a lot of times when I'm in a hurry or being cheap. I emptied a jar this morning making a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I like it so much I dont care to share it!

Doesn't last long...coins get it. Not a cost efficient method.

Used it a few times, but like others have said, coons were hot on it.
Now if I want inventory, I use a marinade mix of 5 gallons of corn with a gallon of apple cider. Typically wait till late season and I don't hunt near it. Strictly an inventory tactic.

I was thinking about doing it for inventory too. Im a no scent believer . lol. Im not really into attractants. If I thought they work I would be all over it. I might use that corn and cider trick .
