Hang on stand in public land
How do you set a hang on stand in a public land? Do you have to do it the same day you are planning on hunting? Or you set up before and leave it there for a few days?

Most often hang and hunt. If your looking to hunt him in the morning before he comes back you can leave it over night. Hanging n waiting a few days may tip the buck off.
On public here in Michigan I wouldnt leave a stand up permanently unless you wanna take the chance of getting it ripped off.

You may also have guys hunt from your stand or steal your locations in future years. Stinks when your spot goes cold because others saw your stand and ruined the spot for you. Big waste of your efforts.

This. It seems like a lot of work and at first it is, but after practicing how to setup properly it gets a lot easier. It gives you a big advantage over other guys who pound the same stands over and over. You are mobile and can adapt to what the deer are doing. I started doing this 3 years ago and can't imagine doing it any other way.

Hang, hunt, pack out.
Be a ghost. Leave no sign that you were ever there.

Yes, with a good stand and set of climbing sticks or climbing stand or saddle or what have you, setting up and removing your stand each hunt will get easier with time.

If you are hunting public WI DNR ground, you have to hang the stand that day and take it down that day. No overnight stands as the law reads. Still plenty of people who leave stands up though.

Re: Hang on stand in public land
I am being thinking about the lone wolf one but is a little expensive for me now, any other cheaper advice? Also I seen the stands come with a harness too, but when I asked the guy at the store he really recommend get a different harness, I like the Muddy diamond.

Hawk makes decent sticks.. Walmart has a set of 3 Hawk Helium sticks for 99 bucks n free shipping.. They also have some light stands. I just bought the Helium xl its like 12 lbs.. The regular Helium is 10 i think... I think i payed bout 150 bucks for mine. The smaller one was 100.

Re: Hang on stand in public land
Don't feel like you have to buy a LW, not everyone can justify a $ 250 stand plus another $ 150 for sticks. Buy used or a new less expensive stand, then silence the heck out of it.
