Re: How many mature animals have you located preseason?
I usually put in a fair amount of winter/ spring scouting, but have never had a mature target buck. I'm hoping to change that this season. I'm starting by attending the MI/ WI scouting workshops. I've read so much and think I have plan till I get in the woods, then I get stuck looking for the same sign most other guys are. I'm hoping that by seeing in person how some of the more experienced guys tackle properties will help me take my own scouting up a notch.

In terms of next season, I have a 3.5 and a 4.5 narrowed down.

Go where none other dare to go, and there you'll find success.

Ok. So how many did you locate in 2015? How about 2014?
2 last year killed one.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: How many mature animals have you located preseason?
I have one so far that is 5-6 years old that I know made it thru the season. Only reason I know his age is because I have history with him the past 3 seasons. Spent way too much time targeting that buck this past season and ended up with tag soup.
Usually I don't have many target bucks per say because most of the good bucks hang out where I cannot shine or run cameras and glassing is very difficult since access outside the season is very limited. Basically hunting ghosts I never laid eyes on except the sign they leave behind.

Re: How many mature animals have you located preseason?
In 2015, I had 5 "shooters" by my standards. One 4.5, one 3.5, and three nice 2.5s. I'm such a good hunter, I never saw any of them while hunting, haha.
This year, I'm hoping to double that number to 10. My main concern is to find better quality hunting areas and more of them. I'm still not at the stage where I am hunting specific bucks, so being in good areas should take care of my goals as they relate to the size of bucks I'm targeting.
