I agree. I feel bad if I don't comment on a kill post and offer congrats. A guy might not post much, but if he takes the time to write-up a story and post pictures, I'm sure as heck gonna congratulate him.

Holy cow!
I kinda feel like my question stole the thread from the starter but I think his question was answered in the mix soooo
I also agree that all the congratulations and welcoming environment of the beast is a great thing and is part of what makes it such an awesome place. On the other hand if it is just to rack up posts that seems a bit weak. I don't think that was the point of what lockdown said either, and for the most part believe the congrats are genuine by everyone.

I'm appreciating all the different takes on this thread. I'm so far from 500 I try not to think about it as a goal. I simply enjoy the heck out of this site and try to add value in return when and how it strikes me to do so. It's the combination of funny, fun, real, learning, and "out there-ness" that creates the commraderie on this site. Thanks to all, both 500 club members and non.

The 500 club is also a privilege, not a right... If someone is not in good standing, or has a warning or two we may decide not to allow someone in, or make them wait longer while we observe future behavior... This is something that could be decided by me, Carol, or the Mod's as a group.

Took me about a year, and was excited to get behind the curtain. As JoeRe mentioned, it ends up being less active than you may think. That isn't a critique on the 500 club in any fashion, more just further evidence at what a great resource the open forums on the web-site are. Most of the good stuff is still happening right here. It's been mentioned so many times, but the willingness to share and discuss here, established by Dan, is just unreal.

Agreed Dewey. The congrats are a good thing. Whether you shoot a 2 1/2 year old or a 6 1/2 year old buck, if you do it the right way and you have worked hard for it, you have the right to be proud. When a bunch of fellow beast members pat you on the back for your success, what could be bad about that? Like Dan always says, "it's the path you take to get there." This is the best site on the internet I have ever come across and a big part of what makes it that way is the support everyone gives.
