On guy killed a buck that was right at 100 and the other guy killed a buck that measures 119.

Yes sir...been there a couple times myself

For sure not a easy mark. I've been very fortunate to witness a few of late. Although private, far from managed. In fact I'd give it up because of the pressure if the genetics in the area weren't so dang great.

165" 2012 (main frame 8! Bucky is correct. Big 8's are cool)
157" 2014 (broken G1- not complaining)!
Got hand cuffed this year by another that should have made the mark as well. It got killed during F/A 's. Trying to find out score :-(

2006 NY private 166" bow
2008 NY private 164" gun
2012 NY (Adirondacks) private 147" gun, 8 point with 140" 6 point frame and short G3s. I consider him a "bigger" buck than the 2 listed above.

[glow=red]For the record... I think 140" 8pts are more impressive looking than 150" 10s or 12[/glow]s

I absolutely agree.

I do not have antler expectations or standards at all when I hunt. This is just for discussion. Because if I did ever travel to a 'hotspot' type destination, in my mind I would be hoping for something 150ish, otherwise why go?? I can go somewhere way cheaper and have a chance to shoot a decent buck...

I haven't killed a 150"+ but wanted to add 130"-140" bucks are relatively common compared to 150"+.

If you killed one you are in a very small group especially if it was done on public land. I have the worst luck on the truly big bucks over 150". Seen a bunch over the years but so many factors, not always my errors have prevented me from killing them. Almost seems like they have that sixth sense we so often hear about. Once they reach 4 years old you are almost dealing with a totally different deer species.

3 in NY over 140 in NY in 10 years? That's one of an accomplishment Sam.

Iv often thought similar like when you go outa state and talk to locals and theyre not talkin about killing anything bigger than an average animal. The question comes into my mind, "if the people that live here arent killin em what chance do I have drivin 4 or 5 hours to try it?" But then you also never know what those locals standards are. We had a lease in WV for six years. The first year we had 4 nice bucks regularly on camera but hanging out at the check in station we never saw anything of any size brought in. My brother killed a 125" eight point n almost became royalty. It was a very small town, needless to say we started seeing more n more trespassing and less n less big bucks till we eventually gave up the lease, not really sure where I was going with that lol.

None for me in Michigan. My biggest with a bow is 132". Nine years of running trail cams I've only had one that would break 150". It was shot 1 mile from me and scored in the 160s. I would say they are very rare in my area. Most of the mature bucks in my area would score in the 130s.

This kind of thing can also be found in elk.

We all hear about all the 400" bulls in Arizona. But even on the highly managed lands. Like the Jiicarilla Indian Reservation. The average 6 to 8 y.o. mature bull only scores 330" to 340"

The huge ones are there! But still rare.

Compared to the billions of people living on earth. How many are actually 6'5" + and 300 + pounds?

Killed my 2 biggest back to back years both off public land with bow. First one an older man told me about on the last day of rifle season as he was headed back to the city. Second one the following year I bumped him bedded on a creek bank as I was going to check a camera and later was able to arrow him.
