Ever catch crap from "non believers"

Unread postby IkemanTx » Thu Dec 31, 2015 1:35 pm

I have been getting just hounded recently since my switch to beast style hunting. Any time I talk about finding beds, waiting for certain winds, and getting aggressive my family (life long hunters) tells me it is hogwash. I have heard it all.

1. Stop worrying about the wind, your scent control works well enough. (After walking 2 miles with 30lbs of gear I doubt anything about me is scent free)
2. Bucks bed wherever they want, not in specific beds. You can't sit where they slept last night to kill them tomorrow.
3. You need to focus more on funnel and travel corridors.
4. Essentially telling me to hunt rut tactics all year.

Ever get beat down? I just wish I could get the point across to people.

If you start seeing anything close to the success rate of some of the guys here. They will shut their own mouths! You won't have to do a thing.

I don't even bother discussing it anymore. Let your actions and kills set it straight.

Not all, but the negativity really comes out in people over big deer

Im pretty humble when it comes to talking to people face-to-face about hunting. I like to test the water first. If they start talking about hunting public land, then Im all about it. At least I can have something in common to talk about. Other than that, I noticed most guys I run into rather talk about themselves and how great hunters they are, or the close calls with a B&C buck  , their pixie dust, and never really care about how the other guy is getting it done. I don't think they do it intentionally, thats just the way it is. :P

I figure the less that know, the less to compete with.

I gave up trying to convince others.

Since changing my style of hunting I have so many more big buck encounters. I tell other guys I am hunting beds and they look at me like I'm nuts. Every year they see nothing but small bucks and question how I can be so lucky to see nice ones when we are hunting pretty much the same areas.

I talked one guy into buying the Marsh Bucks video..........two years later and he hasn't watched it yet.

Probably a good thing otherwise I would have much more hunting pressure around me. Fact is very few have ambition to put in the effort required.

At one time years ago talking about using what are now common rut practices were scoffed at by many too.

Finding The Beast. Learning the tactics is SO illuminating to us Beast members. We want to share our enthusiasm with everyone we meet. But they're not all ready yet.

Just stay on the Beast. You'll get plenty of encouragement on here!!

Like others have said. When you start bringing home one big mature buck after another they may start asking question.

Good luck!!

Same here. I just ignore it or don't talk about it. I'm not yet any good with the beast style but I'm trying. I've told my neighbor and his boy that just walking around the private land that I have access to, just to look around and check stuff out isn't helping. And to only hunt it with the right wind. I get, "it doesn't matter they're use to it. It's all luck." Or something similar. They have no idea that every time they step foot in there they're educating the deer. Especially bucks.

I have gotten wrapped up in it. It's not worth it but does make you appreciate when you can talk to someone who is willing to listen.

Outside of a few hunting websites and some close family and friends I don't share or talk hunting much. It's all I think about most times but having intelligent hunting conversation involving tactics not products is difficult.
