Whitetail Slam

Unread postby DaveT1963 » Sat Dec 12, 2015 7:52 am

Just curious if any Beast Members are working on, or plan on getting their Whitetail Slam. If so are you using gun, black powder or bow?

He might be talking about the triple trophy? Bow, Muzzleloader an gun.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

It actually has a show or did on the Outdoor Channel. The whole Idea came from Tom Miranda while he pursued his Super Slam. Taking all 29 recognized North American big game species. I'm sure most of us have heard of the grand slam for sheep. Tom wanted a slam that recognized the different subspecies of whitetails.

There are eight? Blacktail, mule, whitetail, coues...what else? Just wondering.

To answer your question I might get there someday but its not a direct goal. It would be with a bow.

I know a guy from around here who was the first to kill all 29 North American animals where every animal qualified for Pope and Young. His name is Tom Hoffman.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

I don't believe they all have to be one weapon. I think there's a catagory for mixed weapons also.

Dave if you harvested a whitetail buck while you were in Montana you should be close!

I don't think there are size minimums either!

My bad. This was bigger than I thought.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.
