Aluminum and 316 stainless steel washers (or almost all grades of SS) have no reactivity with aluminum. The corrosive aspect is caused from chemicals (O2) from outside the metallic connection - chemicals which will attack one metal or the other. My sticks are two seasons old - been rained and snowed on dozens of times - no problems as of yet - washers are still shiny as a new baby's a**!! No 'corrosion" what so ever. It won't happen - period.

Outboard motor hardware was one example a few posts ago - the sacrificial anode added to the lower unit is for neutralizing chemical differences in the water the motor lives in - nothing to do with metallic connections within the motor.

I hang 'em and they are silent as smoke! Absolutely no squeaks!! If they make noise they are gone!!

You guys are right on the stainless/alum. In outboards. We use them all over the place.
