Lone Wolf seat modifications

Unread postby checkerfred » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:45 am

Maybe I'm in the minority but while I love my assault ii I hate the seat even with the hunt comfort seat. I can sit for about 3 hrs before I start hurting. My but is just too boney lol. I'd love to have a suspension seat on it. Has anyone thought about this? I looked at the millenium m7 microlite and the seat looks like it would maybe fit on the lone wolf.

I also looked at the millenium ground hunting tree seat. Thought about just taking off the assault seat and using this seat separately with the tree seat as a platform for rut hunts. Thoughts?

I like my Lone Wolf , the 17 lb one. I hate the seat. It is uncomfortable and stiff as a banana seat on my 1st grade bicycle . The worst thing about the seat is , if you bump it while setting it up , it falls on the step and makes a loud metal on metal clunk. A dead giveaway for deer.

I too hate the seat....

I love the trees that are good for standing and leaning on...rather stand than sit on that seat too long...

If I could have my summit Viper top on that platform I'd be in love lol...

I just packed my Viper for the morning...coat, lunch and fluids and a few odds n ends..didn't realize how heavy the lone wolf and 4 sticks are...

I can't remember which member suggested them, but the $5 foam stadium seat pads from Mernards. You can occasionally catch them 2/$5.

I have two and traced the LW seat pad on them and then cut them out. I them zip tied them together and then to the seat, minus the original LW pad. I find myself able to sit still much longer.

I was just talking to my fiancee last week about putting a suspension seat on my Assault.

There's an easy fix for that, put a piece of moleskin or black athletic tape on the top of the seat post. No more noise when the seat comes down.

^^^or tighten the bolt on the post so the seat can flop down so fast. I put some of uncle lues silencing material on the contact points.

This would be a good money maker and I wouldn't think would be hard to do.

Maybe if we got enough interest something would come about?

I have seriously thought about one of those tree seats and just using the assault for the platform. You'd have to take off the assault seat all together and then couldn't cam lock it but you could just carry the extra strap and use it. It would take a little longer to setup but shouldn't be more than a few minutes. I'm just not sure how far out the seat would set..may not give enough room for the platform. My neighbor's boy has one so I'll try it and see.

I got the lone wolf foot rests and I guess they help a little cause you can adjust and slouch more and change your position, I'm pretty short too so I'm always using them, puts you one step behind though when a deer comes in
