The Buck I hit and didn't recover

Unread postby Hauntedwaters » Tue Nov 24, 2015 3:56 am

My neighbor shot the buck that I hit on Halloween weekend and did not recover. It had a pass through wound on the leg where I hit it. Glad someone harvested him.

that sure is bittersweet brother. I can't say I would be feeling so congratulatory of the other guy... just being honest.

LOL. Oh I am definitely kicking myself. We do have some really great neighbors that practice really good QDM. If it was our old neighbors that would mow down everything in sight, I would be pissed. These guys, however, put a ton of hard work into their farm and are avid bow hunters. Couldn't ask for more.

Just curious--do you know how badly he was limping when shot? I'm wondering how quickly they recover.

He was limping but not broken shoulder limping. I shot him on 10/30. He was seen again 11/7 by another hunter in our camp and he was favoring that leg but still moving pretty well on it across a field.

It's good you got some closure. That is a dandy buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Provides really good motivation to shoot more this offseason and put in a few more stands. I just hope he bred about twenty does earlier this month.

X2

Nice to see the buck taken by someone else rather than rot away or being eaten by yotes.
