Guys, before I go farther, you need to know that I once sponsored his show and personally I think the man is Legit!

I worked the last eight years in the hunting industry and dealt with so many of the TV Show host to the wannabe TV Show host, pro-staffers, etc…

One of the very few exceptional great guys that stood out was Spook Spann.

Same for his family, I often take measure of a man by his family, his wife and kids, great people.

He’s one of the few guys that gave more than he took and therefore I’m bias and take what I’ve written that way.

Now, this may some of you off, but what the heck, none of us, especially me, especially in my youth, bent the out of the rules and broke the law.

I’m not say Spook did, but I’ve heard Spook’s personal side of the story and it’s not what you think.

Personally, I’ve dealt with the law and the DNR, if they want you, they’ll own you! Trust me they’ll make you their and poster child!

That said, there are some great DNR guys out there.

So here is my perspective as an older guy who tries to play strictly by the rules and still has screwed up and paid the price!

Here is my question for those of you throwing stones...

How many of you have shot a deer or duck before or after shooting times?

Maybe it’s your best trophy ever, it sits on your wall, you, God and that buck are the only ones that know!

How many of you have filled someone else’s tag?

How many of you have taken a deer or retrieved a deer while trespassing…

How many of you have used bait and bent the rules on volume or used it illegally?

Anyway, sorry for preaching, I’m getting old and a bit cranky.

If I pissed you off, please forgive me, life is too dam short to make any more enemies!

And it’s hunting season and I’m sleep deprived… a few drinks in me and I should not be posting… lol…

Valid points, and if you know him personally and think he's legit good for you. I agree with everything you posted, but still hold my personal opinion. Good luck the rest of season.

Great buck! The guy finds big bucks and takes them down using the resources he has at his disposal. That's what we all try do.

Here's my thing. He gets banned from all hunting for 6 months. That Turkey season during his ban he is out calling for hunters . TN requires a hunting license and constitutes calling as hunting. That is well known. He gets busted by posting his hunts up and gets banned for even more time.

In my eyes there's some character flaw there. Maybe not a big deal to some. But If I'm in his shoes I keep my nose extra squeaky clean after the KS buck Lacey Act debacle. Especially with his high profile and livelihood partially coming from his brand.

Not saying he is a bad person or not a cool dude. Lord knows I have made plenty of mistake.

So the guy made some bad choices... So what? I have seen what the DNR can do to some people I think have ethics way beyond mine, and most likely yours. They can turn a guy who is filming his daughters hunt (not even hunting himself) whom forgot to buy his daughter a $5 habitat stamp into a guy hunting over bait with no license (even though he was not hunting, or anywhere near any bait) just by how they word the charges...
There have been plenty of times all of us screwed up... I can remember shining all night and did not realize my rifle was in my back seat... Just plain forgot about it. Who would believe me if I would of been pulled over? Luckily I was not... It just takes one mistake, or one misunderstanding of a law, to ruin you in the publics eye... and why is that? If its a speeding ticket, or even a drunk driving most of you would not care. So why do you care if someone else got a violation? It seems hunters are always pointing fingers and accusing others, especially if they are shooting bigger bucks, when from what I have seen most bend a lot more rules than the guys they are pointing at and should take a long look in the mirror.

I really don't care much for Spooks style, you would probably have to pay me to get me to sit thru 1 whole show of his... But, I won't condemn the man for one mistake.
