Lol, would you leave the tag in the ear after you shot it, and took pictures?

nOPe, the point was that he would know cause you can see it before you shoot.

BassBoysLLP wrote:What are the exact rules on ear tags? Are ear tags limited to the breeding pen? (i.e. do they apply to deer born on the preserve?). I ask because I don't always see them. I drive by this place on a semi-regular basis. I rarely see ear tags on the deer. Here is one of the videos from that particular preserve...tough to see the ear tags...

Ok.. guess I always thought it was the law, but i couldn't see ear tags in the video. So maybe not.

sorry, but that is one UGLY rack. Can't honestly say that I wouldn't shoot it if it walked by, but that is not my idea of a beautiful deer.

Maybe off topic by now, but this guy doesnt look old enough to be a dad to one of Dans co workers. My guess is must be 2 different guys/deer we are talking about.
For the record that deer would be pretty awesome to come across in the wild..I would have shot him also

i don't think there are two 61 point bucks ever in the world, to much of a coincidence this one is from the same area I was told... He has to have some age on him if he is claiming almost 60 P&Y shot in his life... The guy at work is likely a young intern if I don't know him. There certainly is some funny things about that article... Not sure if its legit or not... But im sure we will find out.

It was a perfect shot right through the heart. The buck continued to lock eyes with me and slowly slumped to the ground on his front legs

I showed picture to a guy who his uncle owns a game farm. Just to see if he thought game farm buck. He said you know how deer breeders get antlers to grow like that? I said no. He said they shoot a .410 with like salt or something at its rack while buck is in velvet. They also sometimes tranquilize and poke with syringe. They do it on bucks they know won't have much but are heavy and older.

I don't know what to make of all that but that's what he said. And he is reliable but who knows who told him or how he got informed of that practice.

That's a dirty detail of deer farming I've never heard before.

I try to look at this in a positive light but I just get that feeling as well. There is a fine line in story telling where it can become a human sales pitch. I'm getting the sales pitch here.

I also noticed what PK posted. Every heart shot deer I have taken ran as hard as they could for 50-100ish yards.

In the long run my opinion doesn't matter too much on this deer. I hope he was taken in a decent manner and isn't being sold as something he's not.

I did have a doe that I double lung shot that just stood there till she died. .270 rifle core lockt that didn't hit anything solid. The girl continued eating browse. I would have swore by her actions that I missed her. After about a full minute, maybe two, she went all wobbly and fell where she was standing.

It is hard to get into the heart without hitting ribs. Evey buck I hit and went through ribs took off like a scalded dog. Those that the arrow slipped between the ribs, some didn't react so violently. I have had a couple just stand there and tip over.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Seems like if you hit any bone they run for days. My observations. Every heart shot I've made they run, but not far.
