Good stuff.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I should just move to friggian Iowa already....
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

This is exactly how I feel. Hands down my coolest encounters have come off the ground. Great pics.

You wouldn't have the issues letting your nephew hunt that's for sure. My buddies 6 year old shot his first one this year with no muss or fuss

This is nothing short of impressive. Not many people can sneak that close to deer. This is downright one of the coolest posts on the beast.

I agree, one of the coolest posts on the beast, nice work muddy.

One question for ya - the deer that are in the pics you took - did you glass them from a distance and move in close to snap the pic? If so, do you go into super stealth mode to close that last distance? OR do you move through such thick areas that the deer you locate (and took pics of) are usually in your lap when you come out from behind a tree or some thick stuff.
I guess more or less my question is do you fine tune anything once you locate a deer to get into bow/photo range...

I was glassing when I spotted the buck in the ditch. I repositioned a few times playing cat and mouse with him and when he got to 50 yards I just got into some cover since I had a good idea where he was headed. He walked right in. The spike followed him. The does walked in behind the spike and bedded.

I'm not an expert at this by any means. All I've figured out is that it has to be windy, 25 mph or more. You need decent binos. If you think you're going slow enough you're wrong, slow down even more.

Yes, yes, yes. Today I did the ground and pound. Winds were light but carrying a slug gun gave me a little bit of confidence.
If a guy is trying this first time, consider wet conditions and/or the high winds.

With a gun and low expectations tags will get filled doing this...

I wouldn't try this on public land unless it was late season.

What camo are you using from the ground? How are you using the wind to your advantage? In your face or side wind or just off wind?

Carhartt brown bibs and a top that cuts wind but also isn't a burr magnet.

Wind in face or cross winds either or

Good action, do you have snow now? With snow camo should be easier to slip in closer.
