Hello, rifle season starts here in pa on Nov 30, what type of features would you guys look for in large tracts of featureless woods. The orange army will be out in full force so my first priority would be getting far from any roads. If there was no obvious food source how would you narrow it down? Im assuming look for edges and transition areas but I wasnt sure if bucks would still be cruising these areas or back into a semi-normal travel pattern. I wasnt sure if bed hunting on leeward side points still works this late in the year.
Thanks in advance
JPE

My favorite spots are on top of a mountain that has mountain laurel and a point or end of a ridge that can be used for bedding on a north, west or south wind with more open timber below. During the season mature bucks will hang in the laurel for days before venturing out.
