While hunting this morning I had a small six point come by about 60 yards away. He was up wind, I had not walked in the area he was in and he moves along from East to West. 3 hours later a very nice buck with a very swollen neck is headed my direction travelling North to South. When he crosses the path the small six took he stops, sniffs around, looks around for a second and then turns inside out trying to get out of town. I figured with the testosterone running high he was on edge and the smell of another buck put him over the edge.
Again, I had not been in that area, had not seen any other hunters, coyotes or big foots in the woods and the wind was in my favor.
Ever had a similar experience? I can honestly say that was a new one for me.
Have you ever had a buck do this?

Did he run in the direction the smaller buck took?

My guess would be either there was a thermal air current shift and he got a little wind from you, or someone else was over where you saw the buck sometime in the last week or so...

Could be. It is pressured public ground.
He ran back almost where he came from, not after the other buck.
