I've cyber scouted a public land to hunt next weekend for a first-time sit (if the wind cooperates). The spot is accessed by approx. 1/2 mile of existing trail, then, then 1/4 mile through timber. I heard Dan talk about sitting down in the woods 100 yards out from a stand location to get quiet and get his game face on, then sneaking in. In my situation, would it be prudent to walk the trail normally (but quietly as possible), then silently sneak in super slow the last quarter mile?
In general, how do you guys approach walking into locations? Do you walk normally most of the way in, and then sneak the last few hundred yards?
Stand approach strategy: how to walk in for first sit?
