What's the highest stand height you hunt?
Some other topics got me interested. How high have you hunted with bow or crossbow? Why did you go that high? Did your plan work?
Highest I hunt are presets I'd guess. Platform around 21-22ft. Never had a shot angle issue but never shot one closer than maybe 18-20 yards.

15 feet is where I like to be. Most hunts I usually get 12 feet. Depending on how high the tree will allow me to climb. I have hunted 30 feet up when I was younger just because I was young and invincible once.

I typically hunt very low just above brush line for cover maybe 8 to 10 feet. It works though.
Highest is 20 feet.
Highest is 20 feet.

7 sticks so I'm thinking 36 - 40 feet. The tree was in a ravine.

Re: What's the highest stand height you hunt?
I used two pull ropes once because I kept getting busted on a tree I needed to hunt.
First time I set up really high, I watched him come in over 90 yards away in hill.country. I let him get so close I was worried about my shot angle.
Needless to say that is stay my favorite shot memory.
Arrow passed straight through him. He took the hit, synod still and literally turned his head and looked at the arrow that just killed him. He stood there for a good 10 seconds. He tried to run off and lost his legs in 4 yards tipped over dead!
I left a bad hook in the tree so I can still see every once and again how high I was up.
2/25' ropes and i pulled the bow.off thw.ground with rhe climber. Let me tell you I could see a long ways but.sending arrow far wasn't going to happen as I was looking down through limbs everywhere :)

Depends on the cover. I've been 10 feet and 35 feet. Hunting pine plantations in the south there is sometimes not a lot of cover so I will get above their eyes. Exits are always low but seem to bleed good. I like to live 18-20

I like to get a good four sticks high but most of the time the canopy / brush requires me to come down a bit.

Re: What's the highest stand height you hunt?
Geez I thought I was out there wanting to go 25-30 ft on a couple spots. I'm not scared of heights in any way, but realize the "what ifs" get a lot worse above 20ft, 30ft, and up.
I watched a healthy looking tree fall in a mild wind 2 summers ago. Sunny day, 15 mph wind. That always has me wondering now climbing higher. I like 3 sticks most one time setups so far.
Bass you win, that's nuts! Lol

Re: What's the highest stand height you hunt?
I like to get around 20' but in the hills I'll go a lot higher and other areas I'll stay lower. Really depends on the cover and what kind of shots I can get off

I used to go up pretty high for rifle season in the old summit climber. I think i have been around the 40 ft mark before just for fun but nowadays im usually 2 or 3 climbing sticks up.

Re: What's the highest stand height you hunt?
6 sticks mostly, 5 sticks on a mobile set. I hunt highly pressured public land. When I started hunting the public I tried with 3 sticks and the deer were laughing at me, went to 4 and started killing deer but was still getting busted, went to five and really started using cover from the vantage of the deer and killed more deer but still occasionally got busted. Went to 6 and I just don't get busted anymore. Today on a mobile set I brought 6 but was only about 4.5 sticks up in the fork of a big Oak and felt completely exposed being so low. Before the public I would use 3-4 sticks depending on cover and be just fine.
