Hunting the rut Nov 12-18
I have not had a chance at all this year to go hunting. I leave friday to come up to Wisconsin for 10 days to finally go. I am hitting it right or is it lock down? Will I be okay? What are your guys thoughts?
Thanks, Ken

I am sorry that I can't answer about WI, but my buddy here in Indiana called me after work this evening and told me he jumped a buck bedded down with a doe. If they aren't in full lock down it is really close. There are still opportunities though. Hunt hard, have fun and be safe.

Youll be hitting it good. A few does came in early preconceiving the notion that we had an early rut, but 90% of the does still have fawns with them. Should be great for ya

I think you are in good shape for WI this next week. I'm heading the other way to Missouri... don't know what to expect but it is rifle season so I'm sure deer will get moved regardless...

I with you man...I hunt in West Central Wisconsin and have not tagged a buck yet. This Friday and Saturday are going to be highs around 40 degrees. It seems like a small batch of does came into heat early but now they are bred and Im hoping the bucks will be out looking this weekend. Im planning an all day sit on Friday even tho the weather looks like snow and rain but hey it will keep competitors at home in their warm beds.

Make sure you hunt mid day during the lockdown, I usually see good bucks between 10am and 2pm crusing fence rows.

I think guys are going to see some good action this weekend with this rain coming. The rut has been really spotty so far this year for me. Hopefully it doesnt kick in hard during gun season.

I think you'll be fine. I hunted all last week and early this week, I saw deer, but not like usual. I saw 3 deer cruising this morning while on my way to work. Good luck!

Rut timing is the same year to year, the only difference is whether the action is during daylight or at night because of warm temps.
In the past 2 weeks I have seen more than 10 mature bucks cruising and we killed 2.......Lockdown is happening right now as does come into estrous, but they aren't all locked down and bucks will be cruising for thier next victim.
