If I ever shot a buck like that the first person I'd call is the CO to come look at the kill seen so everything would be legit.

He was smart and worked with the CO from the beginning. He prepared for the jealousy claims very well IMHO.

He also worked with the neighbors earlier in the year and let them know he was after this deer. So that way if he were to shoot it, he could get permission to go and retrieve it. And, actually after he shot it, it went over the neighboring property he had permission to go onto.
