R.I.P Toad

Unread postby iowa whitetail » Fri Oct 30, 2015 3:43 am

This year i wanted to do something diff and try to shoot two mature bucks with my bow. Most years i will use my land owner tag for the shotgun season and still hunt but the deer are so spooky it never gets filled. I had a deer on cam that i thought was a young buck had never seen him before and the other night at dusk he came by and it was to dark to really get a good look at him so i let him walk at 40 yards. Last night i went back to the same stand and at 530 him and two other bucks came crashing threw the timber chasing a doe and i got a very good look at him and it was obvious he was mature. Huge body and had great mass so at 25 yards let the rage do its thing. He def isnt my biggest buck nor a giant but he is mature and will be a good start to trying to get two mature bucks archery this year. I named him little toad cause he is just a tight racked fat racked buck scoring just shy of 153. Now with my land owner tag its time to move on to the buck i call the half million dollar buck. If i get him i will be pumped he is a giant 9 point ive just been waiting for the right time. good luck guysImage Image

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
