Last week I bumped a young buck sneaking in. I was moving slow and quite enough that I made it within 15 yards of him. I didnt know he was there until he stood up.
When he retreated his head was down, tail down and he was keeping his profile very low. No noise and not at full run.
Is that the normal demeanor for a bumped bedded buck?
I am new to bed hunting so thanks for entertaining a rookie question.

Re: Bumped buck demeanor
Every buck is different... Some freak out when you get within 100 yards, some sit there while you walk right by... It was probably normal "for that buck"

Re: Bumped buck demeanor
I bump a lot of deer, this is the standard behavior for they know you are there, aren't sure what you are, but also are totally freaked out by it and you can keep on going. I've bumped them and had them come right back in 5 minute and had to bump them again to get to a set. Other times they might get more skittish or get a better look at you and run for the hills. Worse yet they get really freaked out and blow like crazy.
