Scent Cover or Scent Free
I have been considering new scent control / cover. Curious about every ones opinions and your camo prep process. Mine is wash w scent free detergent, air out for 2-3 sunny days, then either Dirt Disks or Cedar Limbs. My issue w Cedar or pine limbs, after a few days they start to smell stale or old... I have had success w wafers and foliage w deer down wind. im trying this as my first poll, hopefully I set it up right...

I wouldn't go any further than washing my clothes in scent eliminating detergent. I prefer plain old water.
I'm by no means knocking anyone who believe in scent control. All I'm sayin is I don't.
Play the wind and don't burn out your stands!

carbon suits are a waste of money. a residential dryer like we have in our homes can't get close to hot enough to recharge the carbon.

I didn't vote due to lack of choices, but carbon suits, ozone treatments, and maybe an ozonics(still evaluating) for this educated guy. I don't let scent control cripple me. If you don't have the time or it doesn't make sense on a particular day, I do minimal.
No sprays, cover scents, etc. I believe in stuff I can personally demonstrate in a laboratory setting.

I like the slogan "Forget the scent control, just hunt". I might even trade mark that baby in case it becomes popular.

I think that's the average joe's slogan. It might pick up steam quick! You just need a price tag!
Any guy playing the wind, is essentially practicing a form of scent control. Scent control by definition is minimizing the amount of scent getting to the nose.

Re: Scent Cover or Scent Free
I ditched all scent control measures 5 years ago, and am glad I did. I had the Scentlok liner, religiously washed my clothes in the detergent, sprayed down with scent killer etc...can't say for certain it didn't help, but I don't miss it at all. Lazy I guess. One thing I know for a fact, if you are not in the correct spot (where bucks move in daylight), it doesn't matter if you are completely scent free. You can only find those spots through scouting, observing and time in the stand.

Furthermore, if scent control does work, you have to be an absolute nazi and be on top of your game 100% day in and day out. Too stressful for this guy.

Play the wind & thermals plus wearing rubber boots is all you really need to do. Anything else is overkill, I do bring a stick of odor free deodorant on camping trips- that's more to reduce the stank

Re: Scent Cover or Scent Free
I too play the wind since deer movement is predicated on them trying to take advantage of wind themselves.
I do wash my clothes in scent free soaps but it is for my own personal need not to smell my own stinky self. :)
Playing the wind which is not a perfect game, since wind can be shifty, but has really increased my opportunities and sightings of mature deer.
