At least one of these bucks has a pretty interesting story....

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

To say I am impressed is an understatement.

I highly recommend every goes back and reads spysars tactical thread. I can remember I had a couple hunts this year where I left mid day, tired and frustrated. But I thought to myself "spysar would keep scouting to hunt the evening. He would never just go home."

Good job spy. Hard work pays off.

Too bad I didn't take any field pics....The one I'm holding and the two on either side of me, plus the doe on the far right are mine. The other buck and doe are my friends.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

So the tour isn't over yet. I don't have any buck tags in my pocket until Saturday, when gun opens in NY. I do have a bow doe tag, but I'm not interested in killing a doe in my areas. So the next few days will be spent scouting. Then I plan on hunting in Massachusetts also. They give 2 buck tags for $100. That will take me into late muzzy season, and hoping for snow to track on. So still hoping to kill at least one more buck. Oh, and I also have a bear tag, and there's a chance of running into one around here.

When seasons are done, I'll write up the story of the year for the contest thread. Thanks for all the positive comments. Good luck to all!

Wow!

What do you do with the meat while you're "on tour"?

Cut it up and put it in the freezer I bring with me.

Always intrigued by the annual "venison tour". I'd be interested in the details of your rig (truck/trailer) and your "overall strategy" on getting it done from year to year- if you're focusing on areas with high densities, terrain funnels, etc etc. I have an aquaintance that does basically the same during the spring turkey season, and he and you make the "traveling diy hunter" thing look very romantic. I wouldn't give up my family time to do it, but believe me I am a littl jealous of what you do each year! Congratulations! Not easy killing mature bucks, but you're doing something right!
