Deer Ticks?

Deer Ticks?
Do any of you get alot of deer Ticks on you when you go hunting? Last Saturday night, I picked 5 off of me while in the stand, and then picked 7 more off when I got back to deer camp. My buddies couldn't believe it, they never get that many on them..
I sometimes think it's something to do with just my little property, as my brother gets alot on him also...
For now on, I will be spraying my clothes down for them..

Re: Deer Ticks?
Depends on where I hunt, some areas are worse than others, but yeah. I've pulled 3 out of me so far this year.

Re: Deer Ticks?
The buck I shot this year had quite a few on the brisket, which is uncommon for my area of Michigan. I process my own deer with the help of my father in law, and I ended up with a tick on me the day we processed the deer. Had to come off the hide, which is crazy because the deer had been in a walk in cooler for a week. Nasty things.

I do, if I go in woods where they are they are getting on me. 5 is the norm.if I don't spray. It's got to be a scent or something because I can go with others who don't get them. On the flip mosquitos bother me less than most so not sure what's the deal there

I haven't been bitten by a tick for years. I treat my clothing with permethrin. It works excellent.

I agree that it depends a lot on the area. Your area is really bad compared to most. I always get a ton in that area.

SW Wisconsin.... It never fails, as soon as it starts to cool off outside, they start looking for heated bodies.

Yea the P-stuff is the best! Treat all your clothes and boots and you will hardly see one. They are bad down here near MO in the spring and early summer,,but now,,,late and dry,,cannot find one. Chiggers are another story,,,worse in that you cant see them...but even they have disappeared and is probably due to the fact that it is SO-dry.

Re: Deer Ticks?
Haven't had one on me all year! hunting in the same places as last year. The last two winters here have been much colder than normal. Not sure if that is why i am not seeing any ticks where i hunt. I bought the Rhino Skin top and bottoms for this season.

Ya, I'm in hill country, lots of trees... But I'm not sure if they are on the trees, or just the brush as I'm walking in

In your local, I get most of them when walking through brush usually close to deer bedding.

I know they are around, but I spend all four seasons in the area and never had one on me.
Different story in the hill country where I gun and turkey hunt.

Re: Deer Ticks?
During warm fall days they get active again, had a couple this fall. The overall numbers of them are way down from the spring and early summer but they are around that is for sure.
