Saw buck of a lifetime tonight with Droptine

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Tue Oct 20, 2015 3:06 pm

I was shining tonight and about a half mile from our property saw an amazing buck. He was following around
A doe in picked corn. He played no attention to me he was hooked on that doe. Had points everywhere I counted 14 points and had about a 7 inch droptine. Very cool to see. Hope he ventures onto our property.

Anyone else ever kill or seen a droptine buck?

Wow! I think he is bigger than one I saw. He had alot of sticker points though the one I saw and drop was about mid main beam. I thought he looked young too maybe 3 year old. About 16 17 wide.

You live in some of the best whitetail country in the US... eventually with time, you will cross paths with a WHOPPER. Keep after em

:o
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

WOW! Good Luck...
If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

Yep. Just a matter of time for you. Even poorly managed private gets plenty of spillover.

I hope you get on him.

I've only ever seen one and it was about 9 years ago in WI. He had 9 in drop tines on both sides. He came out of a one acre woodlot (definitely an overlooked spot) and just stared at us. After he ran away we went and talked to the landowner and he asked us why we didn't shoot it and then show it to him? Probably will be the only one I ever get to see in my life but it was a really cool deer. Never heard of anyone harvesting him either.

I shined a huge double drop tine during the rut many years ago. Seen him a number of times but never heard of anybody killing him. Doubt anybody could keep their mouth shut killing something that size so wondering if he just died of old age somewhere deep in the marsh. This buck looked like Gene Wenzel's Woody he killed awhile back.

This is one of the coolest drop tines ever!

I managed to kill this one in NY- grossed 164. The drop tine appears to have broken off in velvet. I have no idea how long it might have been.
