So last night my old man (and only huntin buddy other than the wife) snapped his ankle headed back to the truck. He was coming down a pretty steep bank and lost his footing. He called me because I'm the only person who knows where he hunts because we always let each other know. Inside of 15 minutes I made it to him and my wife and I carried him out of the woods and got him to the hospital. His season is over for now but maybe rifle season he will get out. Huntin is the only thing he cares about really so I think he will be out again before he's supposed to. He had a heart attack a few years back and was in the woods within a month or two haha. Bummed out he can't hunt with me anymore this year because he's pretty dedicated like I am and we always try to hunt close together as much as possible. He was onto a monster buck quick this year and saw him twice within a week. Now it's gonna be my mission to get my wife or myself to let the air out of that buck! Hope I can do it without driving him too far into hiding! Any good ideas?

Buddy of mine fell while installing a life line in his stand from 20 ft and shattered his ankle. Lucky his kids was there to go for help and lucky he landed in his feet rather than his head. Accident can happen in the blink of an eye. Be safe.
My buddy is confined to a blind the rest of season, too stubborn to not hunt. Glad your dad is ok.

Yea I know how fast accidents can happen. Kinda spooky sometimes when I climb 6 sticks high and put up 2 lock ons for my wife and I. Rely on my lineman rope a lot and pray nothing ever goes wrong!

Same thing happened to a buddy dragging a deer out a couple years ago. Can happen when you least expect it.

Agree, be careful out there guys. Things can go wrong in an instant, I'm still not fully recovered from a broken back that happened a little over 2 months ago (however I'm not letting it effect my hunting). Slow down, pay attention and be safe walking, climbing, hanging the stand, taking the stand down ect. Things can go wrong when you least expect it.
