I remember Dan posting a topic about deer keying in on maple leaves when they fall. I'm hitting a stand right now with some maples and we have a pretty stiff breeze which is really bringing the leaves down.
Just curious if anyone has had any success/sightings near this unique food source.

Too early where I have hunted so far.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Same here. Too soon.
They might be a great draw this year with the massive acorn crop we are having in the north east.

The acorns are getting hammered by the bucks in the areas I have hunted so far. So far I haven't picked the right oak tree yet.

Too early here lots of acorns still falling here, saw 4 good bucks Saturday crushing acorns, the big old doe I shot Friday was plum full of green soy bean leaves. I don't single out sugar maples as a food source, but if there are other things near by I've had a lot of luck(mainly next to water and/or acorns)

The silvers are falling here pretty good...haven't paid attention to the reds and sugars.
Should be about that time though...I don't target them per say but do keep it in mind...

Saw one on the way to work this morning where the top 3rd was red. Probably another week or two here.

Targeting sugar maples tomorrow evening. Put a buck up the other day and he ran towards the maples and out into the catails. Hunted the bed I booted him out of two days ago and he was a no show. Thinking he's the next bedding area over near the sugars. Theres a faint trail coming out of the tails heading right through the stand of sugar maples and straight out through a point out towards ag. The maples are starting to drop, and there's no oaks in the area, hopefully the plan comes together
