First Beast Style Buck Shot- looking in AM

Unread postby HoosierG5 » Sun Oct 04, 2015 12:59 pm

Well, I hunted nearly 30 times last year with no sightings of a racked buck in IN. Started really paying attention to beast tactics, and scouted a lot last winter/spring. Wet and windy tonight and 53 degrees. Walked a creek and then a smaller drainage to an area perfect for a NE bed. I had a blowdown about 60-70 yards ahead of me, and I thought, if I was a buck Id be right there...so I hung right there.
At 654 pm I saw antlers coming my way from the blowdown. He got to 20 and I drew but couldnt get a shot as it was thick...real thick. He walked another 10-15 yards and stopped with his head and neck behind a tree-vitals all exposed. I released. Hit him higher than Id like and back. He ran tail tucked and over a rise...I will be back in the AM to hopefully recover him. Hes an older deer and a P and Y buck. Hes not gonna be 150 but hes good for me! Hopefully, pics to come tomorrow.

Hope you find him. Good luck trying to sleep. It's an uneasy feeling for me when I have to leave them overnight.
