The story begins on the last day of the 2014/15 season. It was a very windy day and had been raining hard the night before. I was gassing through the woods and spotted a very nice buck bedded. I had not seen him before in person nor trail cam. The wind was in my favor and I decided to put a stalk on him, because I had to be at work in a couple of hours. The bedded buck was laying in front of a fallen tree with several small trees around him. I basically crawled with 30yd of him before he stood up. Once he stood up I knew it was now or never I drew my bow back and released my arrow....WHACK!! I hit one of the small trees and the buck took off.

After that I began putting some corn out to help the deer through the rest of the winter. The buck started showing up alot on my trail cam, and I was eager to get out and try to find his sheds. Unfortunately I was unable to find the sheds we had had several snows that made it tough. During March I attended Dan's Western KY work shop and that opened my eyes to alot of things I had never really thought of before. As spring lead into summer I continued feeding the deer minerals and corn occasionally. When the antlers started developing I was able to see the big buck from the previous season was still in my area. I watched him and many other nice bucks grow all summer, but he was definitely the big guy on campus. He would show up during daylight often, the last time being Sept 16th. I figured he was bedding close by since I was getting these daytime picstures.

Finally Sept 26th came it was the first day of the season and I was pumped to get out in the woods! I headed into the woods a little after 4 o'clock with my new lone wolf alpha hang on. I set up on the 1/3rd from the top elevation and was overlooking a draw. There is a old logging road that has several rubs on it from where the bucks were rubbing there velvet off. The only thing that I seen that evening was two small bucks pass through. Sunday I eased into my tree stand very quietly there was a ENE wind which was perfect. 7 o'clock I had not seen anything and was thinking of where to move my stand for the next sit. I decided to stand for a few minutes before I began taking my stand down, as I was standing I noticed what looked like 4 legs, the a snout followed by antlers! I knew istantley it was my target buck! He was walking down the logging road straight towards me. There was also a smaller buck walking behind him. The big buck veered off of the logging road and heading diagonally towards me. He was almost under my stand when he got a whiff of me and spun around quicly, but I was in luck he did not bolt and run. Instead he walked back onto the logging road this time behind the smaller buck that was already in my shooting lane. As he took a few more steps I was able to gather enough strength to draw my bow from my buck fevered body.....THUMP! I nailed him at 14yrs and he took off down the hill. After 2hrs of spotty blood we found my biggest buck to date!!
