Re: true luck
O to be lucky!!!! I could have spring scouted that river bottom for a week, located the primary bedding, then summer glassed for 2 mths, planned a 2 miles 4 hr river entrance to get the wind right, hung my stand in the crookest tree with the best cover, sat from 2 hrs before daylight til dark - just to see the 150" slip by out of range & get blast be this dude a qtr mile away.

Re: true luck
the strange part is, that kid never went deer hunting again. i guess, in his mind, that buck was out to get him, and scared him to death.
in his mind it was self defense, all the way!

In all seriousness, hilarious story. Good read.

Re: true luck
I have a similar story...When up in N-MI,,,opening of rifle season guy came otta the woods saying he lost track of his friend,,an EX-Marine. Been gone all day,,could not find him. So upon finally seeing him coming out all coverd with sweat and dog tired,,everyone looking for him questioned him why he had taken so long? He took long because he was dragin a buck out un-gutted. He did not have a clue how to gut a deer.!
