What Happened (Update)
So as many of you know from the live thread I shot a public land bed buck opening night after watching him rise from his bed. He did not bleed a lot. It was darker blood. He never bedded. Here is the vid. It looks like he ducked the arrow an inch or three. Same exact problem as last year. I defiantly need to quiet the bow.

Re: What Happened
Looks high to me I'm sure the angle of the nock is different than the impact

Re: What Happened
Looks like a pretty good hit to me bud. I hope you find him. You definitely should not beat yourself up. You are doing things very right and have a real talent at hunting deer. Good luck!

Re: What Happened
Looks like meat and no vitals to me. Too high and too far forward. You did everything right but the last part of the equation "the shot". I talked about the exact thing that happened to me on my podcast. I have always said those calm wind quite days are the worst. How close was the buck?
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: What Happened
I dont want to be the downer, but I think with the angle from the shot, the impact of the broadhead looks high and a little back to me?

Re: What Happened
Very short clip makes it hard for me too visualize this but it looks high and back and I do not think he ducked very much. Maybe clipped the top of the diaphragm and liver.
Definitely looks high and mid body after getting the video to stop where I can see the fletching well.
Tough break on a great set up.

Re: What Happened
Looks like high and back to me based on the footage. Definately hit bone because there was no pass thru. Hopefully clipped the top of the liver.

Re: What Happened
Looks high and angled into the far shoulder. Don't think you hit any vitals there. That sucks.

I agree with Stanley. I lost a buck in 2009 on a very similar looking shot and impact.

Re: What Happened
I agree with Dewey and Stan.
Just a thought: After you've given your best at finding him, can you put up a couple trail cameras to maybe see if he made it? It might help you figure something out.
Tough break but the hunt worked. Good luck man!

Re: What Happened
Same here. It looks high to me as well. I will also add that it looks like you didn't get much penetration so you won't get much of a blood trail to follow with that hit. The poor penetration also suggests a shoulder hit; especially if you are shooting a fixed Broadhead.
What Broadhead are you shooting?
As much as it is a bummer to wound a nice buck like that at least you know that your setup was good.
Hopefully he makes it and you see him again. I agree with DeerDylan. I would put out a trail cam or two to see if he makes it.

Re: What Happened
I was able to get this freeze frame, look high and maybe angling forward but not sure on a vital hit.
