Updated!Steve scores on a Wi. buck, 30 years in the making!
No time for story, but I can say I got it all on tape and he is really pumped!!!
The doe deke did the trick! Now it's my turn behind the string!!!!!!
Finally time to post more pix!
Here is the story from buckfvr..
Well folks let me first say this trip back to WI. has been one I have been looking forward to. I did hunt the early season with Chris 2 years ago but had no luck and I knew it was all about timing. This trip has been well worth the wait.
The hunt..
Chris and I hunted this spot the evening before and had no luck but thought we would give it another shot in the am as he knew it would be a great funnel area for bucks cruising. We set up the doe decoy at 20 yards and had the wind just right for our set. I put out some scent around the deke and also used a wick nearby. The first deer to see our decoy was a young doe and she wanted no part of the stranger . About 930 a young 8 came from behind us and was looking hard but he did not like the decoy and wanted no part of it. It was warming up and I had told Chris that I needed to shed a few layers before a shooter showed up. ...I had just taken off my binos when chris said there is a shooter . I turned around slowly to see him on the far side of the plot looking hard at the decoy..just then he commits and is on his way in but not in a hurry.I tell myself this is it ..this is what I have been waiting for for 30 years and I better not screw this up. He stops at 25 yards and is looking at the doe then looks up at us...he then tries to get down wind and is doing his best to identify the new girl..I am at full draw and anchored now..he decides he wants out of here and turn's to leave giving me a perfect quartering away shot at 20 yards...Smack the shot look's good and we watch him struggle to exit the plot and crash just inside the woodline. I look at Chris and we both knew that I had the first big mature deer of my hunting career (30 years of hunting whitetails). We pack up and start on the blood trail which led us on a short track to my trophy. Big thanks to Chris and his family for allowing me to finally make a bowhunters dream a REALITY.

Congrats to Steve!
But also I want to say to you Chris, that you should be commended for giving up time out of you rut season, and your spots on your farm to help a fellow bowhunter. My hats tipped to you Chris!
