What would YOU do?
I just posted a question in my journal concerning these two bucks.
Do I leave my camera alone and hunt there opening weekend? Or do I go in and gain intel on which bedding they're using so I can hunt with a more educated guess? What would YOU do?
Here's the link to my journal where it shows an aerial of stand locations, bedding areas, camera location, and more. I'm interesting in hearing everyone's answer... viewtopic.php?f=191&t=31395

When is opening weekend?
If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

Re: What would YOU do?
With those pics being in the middle of July an the pictures at 2:14 in the morning. I would be willing to bet that they will not be in that area come opening weekend .
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I agree they're most likely hitting this area towards the end of their "day". If these pictures were closer to dusk or dawn you could find an area near the camera and try to catch them but unless you're going in there at 2am with a Q-Beam save your opening spot for an area they slip up during legal light

Re: What would YOU do?
September 19th is opener.
I have a bunch of daylight pics of both of these deer. I went thru all of them today, and the majority of the time they are heading west in the evening, and east in the morning. Of course there are some random mid day and middle of the night pics as well. For a two week span, they showed up fairly frequently.

Re: What would YOU do?
Ghost hunter, I would say that I probably get more pics from 1:00-3:00 a.m. than any other time frame. That goes for all of my properties, and especially for the big bucks. They really move a lot in this area during that time and I'm not sure why.
I got pics of these bucks 3 different days in the 2 weeks I had the camera out. Keep in mind these are farmland bucks and they move around a lot. I have a very hard time getting a solid pattern on the deer around here. And with all the standing corn, scouting from a distance will be tough. The beans are just starting to turn which means the deer are going to abandon them any day.

Re: What would YOU do?
I'm in the same predicament as you. I have a pretty good idea where the buck I am after is bedding, so I'm staying out until opening day... which is tuesday.

Stay out, pics with you holding the antlers are a lot cooler than getting another peek at the game cam pics.

If your season starts in a few days. Just wait an make your move. If he does not come through soon. He has become annoyed from the new visitors .
Good Luck.

It might be worth it to check the cams mid-day opening day if the wind is ok and see where you most recent activity is, then quickly formulate a plan for the evening.
