Hands down the 13th. Better chances at a big one. 4 out of my 5 biggest were killed after nov 14th.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

According to this, if you want the peak rut then the 13th.

But if you want prerut I guess the 1st? potential Weather conditions may influence your decision?

I'd rather pic 6-10... but if I have to answer your ?.... 13th no doubt. I shot my Missouri monster buck on 13th or 14th. I usually see the biggest deer later on in the rut... say 11th-18th

13th.
Although the comparison to Spy's big bucks and mine varies however MY 3-biggest bucks were
17th
24th
28th
Also the trail cam pics somewhat show this activity too...
Not to mention the road sightings are typically higher by myself & hunting peers.
Subjective to NH only not S. WI - for what it's worth

I have a tone of vacation piled up from late October through the WI gun opener, these two dates were up for a fill in.

A little surprised at everyone else's replies.
Nov 1 hands down for me.
The 13th is typically about the start of lock down around here. Not high odds at all if you are going for an older buck.

Re: Nov 1 or 13 for rut?
I saw these days posted on another site as well!
I wanted to give 10th through 15th a try this year but my wife's maternity leave will end that week so it probably won't be a good idea!
In Central Illinois, I think anything past Halloween is good but it all depends on weather. If we get a good cold front that first week of November its golden. I'll be in the woods all day everyday from the 4th to the 8th and probably the weekend after as well.
I decided to take all the mature buck pics off my 12 to 15 cameras the last two years that were taken during the day. The vast majority were in the same spots both years. Two years ago, most mature buck pics were taken from the 8th to the 14th but had a lot taken anywhere from the 30th to the 18th. Last year, the most pics were taken from the 2nd to the 9th. We hunted the same days both years so that wasnt a factor in movement. I think it all depends on weather and I'm putting a little influence on the moon as well....prelininary. Well see how this year goes, most cameras are already set and running.

The first week you'll see more action. 2nd week will be less but a better chance getting a big one between does IMO.

This is what I see...
Nov 1-8, lots of action, but mostly smaller to medium bucks.
Nov 9th-14th, less action, but way better quality. In the past 5 years, I have had some big boys on trail cam, mid day, the 12-13th.

Nov 1. Last year you had one of your best target bucks on cam repeatedly in late October. You need to be in this local earlier than later. Unless you like looking at daylight trail cam pics on Nov 13th.

Re: Nov 1 or 13 for rut?
If we are talking rut. Down south at the farm. The week of Nov 7th through the 13th is the week. Gun season starts on the 14th. Then, well everything goes south as far as predictability. Over at Bayou Meto the week appears to be the week before Thanksgiving.
I have always thought about the rut time being north an south. The does not seem to be any real difference. I know it has to do with the days getting shorter, more so. I wonder if west an east are any more different?

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.
