Climbing spikes in wi

Does anyone know if it is legal to use tree spikes on state land in wi.I know screw in steps are not but unsure of the spikes

The law says if they damage a tree in any way they are illegal. Not sure how they rate damage since even climbing sticks scrape off some bark when they slip down.

Yeah seems kind of like a grey area to me. I have had climbing stand that have done more damage lol. I use the spikes for work and thought they would be nice to lighten up the load.

Per a Conservation Warden I know, "Climbing spurs are not allowed on DNR lands due to tree damage concerns."

I didn't realize how old this post was when I came across it, but hopefully it helps someone out down the road.
