Recommend me a Kayak.
Here past couple of days I'm finding spots and have had old spots that just would be way better access if I could float/paddle up and down the river.
I'm not a boat guy and my concerns are stability...I'm not the best to hold balance and of course enough room for my Goliath bow and back pack. And light enough for me to carry from the bed of my truck to the waters edge easily

If your worried about stability IMHO the sit on top of are the more stable, my friend has one that has he uses for fishing and loves it. Has me thinking about getting one for some places that I hunt.

Nucanoe or native. Best IMO. Both are stable and roomy. Only downfall is price. I have been trying to bite the bullet and the only thing keeping me back is the amount of spots I have that don't require paddling

Re: Recommend me a Kayak.
I would recommend a canoe.
But if you are set on a kayak, look closely at the weight ratings when you are buying. If you are carrying a stand, take that into consideration. I am a bigger guy and I have been in kayaks that the water level has been a mere 3-4 inches from the gunnel of the kayak. Not much wiggle room for moving around or waves. If you are trying to get into some shallow water spots you will want a flatter bottom and wider kayak. This type of kayak is a lot slower in open water but runs better in the shallows.

A canoe kayak hybrid might be a thought as well, put some stabilizers on it and no way you are tipping. Old town has a canoe that is a solo one called the Pack but you will need stabilizers on that.

Re: Recommend me a Kayak.
I have a flat back canoe that I had registered so I can put a troller on it. It works great. It's heavy and a bit big but well worth it in stability I've yet to have it come close to flipping over. I have taken it down wolf and twice down the buffalo river this summer. I have a hitch extender that keeps it secure in the bed of my truck. Come by and check it out if u want. If I'm not using it one weekend and you wanna to use it. You're welcome to borrow it.

Re: Recommend me a Kayak.
I'm a kayak fisherman and fish out of my kayak in the Mississippi River a lot. Kayaks can paddle over very shallow waters and are more stable than canoes but can't take a lot of weight. With a sit on top kayak you can easily bring in a tree stand and bow to your hunting spot but you will not be able to take a big buck out with you.
A canoe is your best option.

Re: Recommend me a Kayak.
I recommend a canoe also.
I am a new owner of a canoe and this will be my first year hunting with it. My family and I (wife, 2 small kids, and dog) have been in it a few times and haven't had issues with stability and still get through pretty shallow water. I shouldn't have any problems hauling my gear and a deer in it. It is 17' (probably bigger than you want just for hunting) and its still light enough I can carry and load it myself.
