Favorite Hunting Weather
In the interest in of becoming a multidimensional hunter I was wondering if some of you would share what is your favorite weather conditions to hunt in and why? How do you use that situation to your advantage?
I love to hunt in the fog. It seems to me that when there is a thick fog there is a lot more "daytime" movement. I think they must feel hidden. Other than seeming to be out more in the daytime they seem to be less spooky. The moisture also makes it much easier to stalk closer. It has happened more than once that when I was struggling to see my buck in the daytime I would catch them out on in the fog.

Cold and clear... steady wind non variable
Light rain or mist in timber hills mid to late Oct... I have seen my biggest bucks in light rain conditions... or following a rain

Cold, crisp, and light wind. Bucks love a mist or light rain/wet conditions. They can smell even better and seem to feel more secure moving.

Re: Favorite Hunting Weather
Cold.
Clear.
Low RH.
Steady, consistent wind 10-15 mph.
Preferably the first cold front closest to Halloween, preferably before.
If your vacation doesn't start until Saturday, call in sick.

Re: Favorite Hunting Weather
Early November with temp in the 20's, steady wind 5-10 mph and flurries in the air. That's buck killing weather there.

Re: Favorite Hunting Weather
I like a November rain, 40s and a cold light rain, walking around with a gun. If it was 40 and cloudy, light rain on and off, that would be good for me any day in life.

Colder than warm is my preferance but not extremely cold. I like a fresh snow when the woods is quiet or november in the woods with light wind and either light rain or slight overcast

Re: Favorite Hunting Weather
Opening week of bow season - after a light rain or summer evening storm cell moves through and it clears up and the temp drops / big pressure change with 1-2 hours of light left. As long as the wind doesn't shift or you anticipate the right wind shift, things usually get good in a hurry and they are all up on their feet.

40 degrees, overcast, with 20-25 mph wind.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
