Last Sunday afternoon I shot a nice gobbler with the bow and could not find him. I'm still bummed out about that.
Today I went to check one of my camera's on public land and found out it was stolen by some $%#@!&* thief!
This camera was in a very remote place on a island surrounded by deep water in a cattail marsh. I gotta give credit to whoever the thief is because it took a bit of work to get where it was. The thing I don't understand is that it was locked to a tree with a steel plate thru the back of the camera and locked with a steel cable. The idiot had to destroy the camera in order to remove it! It can't be much good to this person anymore. It really sucks that morons like this can't work for something honestly but would rather steal everything instead. Not sure how people like this sleep at night. They are the scum of the earth!!
After getting pretty upset about this I headed to one of my better spots and along the way I ran into a 6 pointer. O.K. no problem he didn't wind me so I kept going. I was headed to a island in the cattails and when I got to the island I heard a rubbing sound but thought it was a squirrel climbing a tree but boy was I wrong!! It was a nice 130"-140" 10pt buck furiously rubbing a tree. At the exact moment I saw him we locked eyes at less than 20 yards and he spun around and bolted. This is one of the bucks I know is in the area and have been hoping to get a chance at. I feel very lucky to see him but just wish it was under different circumstances. I think I educated him a little and might have burned my one chance on him unless he makes a mistake during the rut.
Oh by the way.....the moon chart was right on today. Peak movement was supposed to be at 1:06 P.M. today and I saw the 6pt at about 1:15 P.M. and the bigger buck at about 1:35 P.M.!
Both deer were up on their feet and active very early afternoon right after the rain stopped. Hope my luck changes tommorow!

Sorry to hear about the turkey and camera.
Your luck on the deer sound's OK.
It's definately a game of second's.
One second too fast or slow, and no chance at him......
Have a good day tommorow.

Sometimes I wonder if they steal for profit, or if they steal because of being mad that someone else is hunting there area... ?

I'm pretty sure my camera was stolen during the herd reduction hunt last weekend. The gun hunts seem to bring out more of the shady characters. Most of the bowhunters I have come across are very honest guys and wouldn't mess with other peoples stuff.
I'm thinking maybe a bunch of guys were doing a deer drive when somebody came upon my camera.

I guess because it's public land the public that visits the land feels it's theirs to claim. I'd be hard pressed to want to leave anything on PL for that very reason. Seems people whoever they are, feels that it's up for grabs, even when locked down.
