Big City Bucks!
Found 3 bucks out feeding in a soybean field tonight & got pictures and video footage! I was using my Canon T5 rebel with a new manual focus 500mm lens that I got off Amazon for $129.99 & my Sony 60x zoom Handycam. The bucks were 300 yds. out. I figured out that I can use the digital zoom + button on the Canon to look at a bigger picture and improve the manual focus. The bucks are still growing their racks & I don't think the bigger bodied lighter color buck has developed as fast as the wider buck. It'll be interesting to see what he grows into! Looks like he's going to have a lot taller rack!

Cool.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

It's a City limits/No Hunting Area but our DNR sometimes puts their blinders on to a little City Limits bow action!

Good bucks!
I have an older Canon Rebel, its a great no frills DSLR. Does that 500mm lens have image stabilization? If not it is very impressive how clear those pics are (and if it does have stabilization I am impressed how cheap that lens was)!!

Re: Big City Bucks!
The 500mm lens was a much cheaper lens with no auto focus & no image stabilization. I got it for only $129, including the 2x magnification extension off Amazon. Using the rock solid Vanguard Photo window clamp mount is a big help but I have to shut off the truck motor or you can see the vibration. And as noted, trying to focus on stuff that's further out, gets really difficult, especially in fading light. I took my range finder that's only a 400 yard & sized up the field where I got the big buck photos & video and I was way off on the yardage. What I thought was 300 yards was more like 500+ & I guess using cameras & video cams at max 60x zoom will throw you off. Here's a photo to put it in context.
And here's a couple photos that were at over 500 yards & cropped to see a bigger image and a couple that I snipped out of video footage.

Re: Big City Bucks!
This was some video I shot using the manual focus lens on a doe that was 500+ yards with the 500mm lens +2x magnifier. You can see how much just me moving a little in the truck affects it.

Nice Bucks!
Got a link to the lens? For that price, seems worth a try!
