The bear bait buck...
I know a lot of you don't follow my bear posts so I thought I would post the buck pic's here. This buck is hitting one of the bear baits pretty heavy. These pic's are from the 1st week of june. Alot of growth... Split brows and getting pretty wide... Living on very heavy hunted public. Might have to go after him if he keeps growing.

I think you should invent a new product for that buck, the pop tart slurper!

Yep...
You better plan on hunting him if he is still in that area in a couple months. Is DEER baiting legal there?

That is an interesting question and a possibility. Opening day of bear season is Sept 9th. Opening day of bow season is Sept 12th. Legal limit for baiting bear is 10 gallons of bait. Legal limit for baiting deer is 2 gallons of bait. Dan would likely need to keep his bait volume to 2 gallons or less to harvest the bait stealing buck.

Notice the pita bread on the log and watch it disappear when the deer grabs it and runs.

I will hunt him off the bait... If he keeps coming in I will try to figure out where he is bedding and go after him the usual way.

Very interesting! Are you going to start changing your approach to the stand or the way you bait in any way now that your hunting a deer as well as a bear? Like the way you walk in, or what wind directions you bait, or where you put your stand?

I was speculating that you'd still be holding a bear tag on Sept 12th. Lets hope we all can tag out fast!
