milkweed question

I found a bunch of milkweed this weekend. When is the best time to go back and pick the pods? Im in southern Michigan. Thanks

once the pods start to open up you can find some that are still closed. that may be the best time.

I'm in SE Michigan, early to mid September is a good time to pick it. Cut it open on one side and let it dry out, keep it in an open box and don't stack them on top of each other..keep them spaced out or they could mold. You can also pick them as you need them off the plant during the season when they are cracked open and dried out and use them that day.

I find that is the time when they are just right and ready to dry.
