I live in the Indianapolis area, but am visiting friends in a Cleveland suburb this weekend. I have never seen so many urban deer!
Yesterday afternoon in the metropark, we saw four deer on a two mile walk. They were not afraid of two men plus six kids at all. Then in the evening we chased a doe across the middle school track just beyond the back fence. The neighbor stated he once had five bucks in his quarter-acre back yard. He said "they frown on hunting the deer by residents". The same doe came back through the front yard two hours later.
Today driving back from the beach at 4PM we saw a doe eating a hedge, about 40 feet from traffic. I've never seen so many urban deer!
I guess they use sharpshooters and culled 400 deer recently, but I didn't find anything quickly on urban hunting in Cleveland. Does anybody know about it here? Deer numbers seem crazy high...

Probably like many other urban zones, everything is private and most dont allow hunting or their property is just too small. Sometimes there also are city ordnance rules about discharging firearms within the city limits and most classify bow as a firearm.

Urban areas are tricky for managing deer. I have an urban spot where I sit ina backyard and have to say. It is not for everyone and most spots just can't be ethically hunted.
Any other urban shooters out there?
