hunt the edges or woods?

with many stands put out for certain wind directions...how do you know when to decide to hunt the edge of a field or go inside the woods? i always have a tough time decideing and latley by fliping a quarter hasnt been working to well...

All my whitetail hunting is based on bedding. I get as close as possible to the bedding without getting detected in order to see daylight action with mature bucks. If that means sitting on an edge, so be it. But most of the time I am in the woods, swamp, or marsh near the beds.

Well said Dan. We used to hunt field edges alot. For does and sometimes smaller bucks it can be ok. But you're betting that they will make it to that field during daylight. At least the public we hunt the big boys dont make it in legal light with the exception being late season. Like Dan said your odds of seeing them increase when you're closer to their beds.
