WI T-Zone

Unread postby snofreak » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:56 am

I'm probably opening up a can of worms asking this question haha but just wondering how everyone else feels about the T-zone in southern WI this weekend? I feel very strongly against it as I hunt in a CWD zone and don't see very many deer but yet the DNR wants us to continue to wipe out the population?

I won't participate and wish others would do the same... If no one went out for the doe slaughter they would stop having it.

glad I'm not the only one that thinks it is completely ridiculous and will not be participating. It's bad enough that they are making us shoot a doe to get our buck tag yet. This whole CWD and herd reduction unit business is really starting to take the fun out of the sport and just making hunting more of a chore and a headache. I don't understand why the cannot everyone one buck tag and one doe tag and call it done.

No way would I go! I'm actually pissed about it this year as I am on a really nice buck I have seen twice including this evening and I was all jacked about getting a good wind for the bucks bed on Friday and a buddy informed me this stupid thing starts Thursday. Chances are this buck might get pushed out of there. I hate the dnr.

I refuse to participate in the antlerless slaughter so I will be heading over to Unit 69 which is a regular unit to hunt for a buck instead. :D

I have never participated in any of the "kill the doe" weekends that the DNR wants us too. All it does is screw up the rest of the year for the bowhunters in my opinion.

Agreed, but for those hunting a CWD unit, why not earn your buck so you don't have to pass up the big boy come opening hour of gun season?

Those that bowhunt should have no problem shooting a doe when they are bowhunting rather than showing support for the slaughter weekend.

Ya, well, that's what I thought last year... I was like sure, I will just go wack a doe with the bow early & then I will have my buck tag.... problem was, I seen very little doe's, & the ones I did, were too far away to shoot with a bow.... so I went out in the 4 day doe season & shot one 100 yards away with the rifle... I didn't want to do it that way, but I wanted a buck tag for the rut coming up.... I don't know, the whole thing with CWD just sucks !!

Dan, suppose you're right. I guess eliminating EAB in all it's ridiculous entirety would be the ultimate solution. Let's see, what would eliminating EAB do for Wisconsin Deer hunting?

1) Less violations (Hunter bags buck before earning doe tag)
2) More deer. Period.
3) No more ruined bowhunting weekends
4) ...Feel free to add to the list!

We'll be filming a bowhunt this weekend, targeting doe's of course. The object is not only to secure some footage, but the basis will be dealing with Wisconsin's reality Deer hunting rules, such that we'll be bowhunting in our orange, hopefully we'll capture some distant gunshots on audio and show what it's like for a bowhunter to have to deal with the DNR's idea of "herd control". I'll preview my EAB sticker I earned last week before the hunt starts and maybe we'll watch a buck or two get another free pass like I was forced to give the first two sits.
