Rivers Edge Meat Market - Jefferson, WI

I've never had a deer processed for me, it's always been a do-it-yourself gig, but with the warm weather this week, and some things needing to get done around home yesterday, I decided to take the deer in and have someone else do it. Besides, as a trade-off to hunt the impressive land I'm on, the owner loves venison so some summer sausage and brats and steaks ought to do the trick in a nice Autumn Care Package as my way of saying thanks.

WAY HotterthanTiffany recommended Rivers Edge in Jefferson, WI (South East Wisconsin) as the closest place with a good reputation to my home in Mukwonago. She also mentioned Dan takes his deer there, too, so it HAS to be reputable.

Long story short, I called to let them know I was held up at work, but really could use their services, would they stick around and wait a few extra minutes for me. The answer was politely delivere, "Of course"!

Business hours end at 6:00 PM for them and it was 6:25 PM when I pulled in. The woman behind the meat counter was as polite as could be and very friendly, as were the two boys working around the shop as they registered my deer and took care of business. The DO have an after-hours drop-off, but I needed it registered, so THANK YOU to Rivers Edge and if you're in the SE Wisconsin area, while I can't yet comment on the finished product, what EXCELLENT service.

That's the other thing, you can shop there. A vast variety of house seasonings that looked awesome, fresh local sourkraut - jarred, great selection of fine meats (steaks, hams, etc.) and cheeses, as well as jelly's and breads, amongst tons of other options. . . And here I thought I was walking into a "nothing but deer processing" place. My wife, Christie, wants to go back during their business hours and shop, plus the drive from Mukwonago was great with the sun setting.

Lucy knew your name with a grin when I mentioned it and said, "Yeah, Dan's always bringing deer in here." Maybe they would benefit on a advertising space on your site, Dan??

Best part of all is that it's a family run place = good people
