I find it interesting that overall statewide there were:
- More bucks killed than last yr
- Less antlerless killed than last yr
- Overall less total deer killed than last yr

What is really interesting, is looking at the historical data for the state. I wish they had it by county but they don't. This years harvest is close to HALF of what the state harvested 10-15 years ago. Let that sink in for a second.

Gun deer harvest was over 400,000 as recently as 2007. Been on a major slide since.

Kill numbers this year are SLIGHTLY better than 2015. Except in the area I hunt in :/

More bucks were killed in Adams cty than last year.

CLARK county harvest numbers are better than last years, so technically, BassboysLLC is NOT "off his rocker". lol. Bass is technically a rocket scientist

Eau Claire county has better numbers than last year.
So does Wood cty, and Juneau cty.

These are all slight though.

I welcome competition as long as it don't interfere with MY hunting lol :)

I have hunted the central forest since I first started hunting. We have always done well during the archery season. Since 2008, success has been hit or miss with a gun. Mostly because we do not put much effort in. Vacations have been spent. So Saturday and Sunday and done with gun. Over the years we have taken some pretty nice public land bucks. Both with gun and bow.

Bump.... There is a TON of accessible land within Wisconsin's Central Forest Zone.

Fort McCoy in Sparta, WI has well over 40k acres open to hunting. Then you got several HUGE public properties ADJACENT to Fort McCoy....

There is ALOT more to WI than you think

I live 2 miles from the clark county forest, started bowhunting it in 1998. From that time, til now I've seen deer numbers fluctuate from incredibly high to desperately low, but I've never had a problem finding numerous mature bucks to hunt. Biggest being 207 inch non typical shot by a buddy of mine, and numerous 160+ inch bucks threw the years. Wolf's are definitely around, some years more prevalent than others, same with hunting pressure. There's some good hunting to be had in there. Few pictures of some of the bigger onesf

Based off my 20+ years of hunting the public in the central forest these 3 bucks are a good representation of the average mature buck that can be found in the area i hunt.

I would agree with this. There is always potential for some slobs like you have pictures of but these are what I’d say is pretty typical.

I probably walk some of the same dirt you do based on the background of the pictures. Love hunting the central forest
